Misiu's "CircUs Max" Carnival Takes Kaohsiung by Storm with Grand Circus Spectacle

Kaohsiung, the vibrant southern port city, recently played host to a spectacular event as Taiwanese rock band Misiu (麋先生) returned home to stage their "CircUs Max" carnival. This ambitious production transformed a vast 22,500 square meter area—equivalent to three football fields—into a dazzling circus-themed wonderland, attracting an impressive 20,000 fans over six shows spanning two weeks.

This big circus started as a joke from the beginning. To have so many people here today, in a venue where no one has ever held a concert before, we've really built a circus tent and are standing on stage singing. I really want to say thank you to everyone! Whether it's on stage or off stage, we are the ones writing the first page of this history. Misiu, known for pushing creative boundaries, collaborated with the professional FOCASA Circus to erect a colossal circus tent, a first for a concert in the region. The stage itself was adorned with towering "giant antlers," reaching 10 meters high, adding to the surreal and grand atmosphere. The integration of circus artistry was seamless, with 10 circus performers showcasing high-risk acrobatics, juggling, and aerial stunts, all while Misiu delivered a powerful set of seven songs, including their hit "Born Lonely."

The band members themselves shared deeply personal moments, making the homecoming concert even more special. Lead singer Sheng Hao expressed profound gratitude, reflecting on how a "joke" about a circus concert had materialized into a historic event. Guitarist Yi Fan surprised the audience by revealing his own past experience performing in a circus, adding an unexpected layer to his stage presence. Drummer Zhey An shared his excitement about the integrated market stalls, fulfilling a long-held dream of having a concert bazaar. Meanwhile, bassist Enuo revealed his new identity as a father, dedicating his performance to his wife who manages childcare while he tours.

Beyond the main stage, the venue featured over 40 market stalls, food trucks, and amusement rides like spinning deer and photo booths, ensuring entertainment for all ages. Misiu's triumphant return to Kaohsiung, blending their signature rock sound with the magic of the circus, created an unforgettable spectacle, solidifying their reputation as innovators in Taiwan's music scene.
