Moroccan Consulate in Almería Continues Outreach Program for Diaspora

In a significant move to better serve its diaspora, the Moroccan Consulate General in Almería continues its exceptional program designed to streamline access to consular services for the Moroccan community in the southern Spanish province. This initiative, operating during weekends, reflects the consulate's commitment to adapting its offerings to the evolving needs of Moroccans living abroad, ensuring both efficiency and quality in service delivery. As highlighted by Consul General Soumiya Fathi, the entire consulate staff is mobilized to guarantee the smooth operation of this program. Key features include extended reception hours and weekend availability, creating optimal conditions for citizens. This effort is deeply rooted in the Kingdom's 'proximity policy,' a directive from King Mohammed VI aimed at placing the concerns of Moroccans worldwide at the forefront of consular work and reinforcing their connection to Morocco. The program also embodies the guidelines from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, focusing on modernizing services and simplifying procedures to accommodate the professional constraints faced by applicants. Fathi noted that the introduction of the apostille stamp on documents is expected to further simplify administrative processes. Since February 11, the consulate has processed over 13,000 applications, handling approximately 700 cases daily, demonstrating the program's substantial impact and the community's engagement. Civil society actors have also joined forces to support this initiative, particularly in issuing certificates of vulnerability. Beneficiaries have expressed strong appreciation for the quality of reception and the effectiveness of the implemented mechanisms, acknowledging the continuous attention King Mohammed VI dedicates to Moroccans abroad. This program not only addresses practical needs but also reinforces the emotional and national ties binding the Moroccan diaspora to their homeland.
