Moroccan regional products shine at national competition

The Moroccan Competition for Regional Products, now in its seventh edition, has once again shone a spotlight on the rich tapestry of Morocco's agricultural bounty. Held at the Meknes International Agricultural Show (SIAM), this prestigious event celebrated the excellence and diversity of the nation's 'produits du terroir' (regional products), underscoring the Ministry of Agriculture's commitment to supporting local producers and enhancing the value of their offerings.

This award is a powerful motivation for the thirty women in the cooperative in the province of Essaouira to continue balancing the preservation of traditions with product development.

This year's competition saw an impressive participation of 1,375 products hailing from every corner of the Kingdom. The rigorous evaluation by a dedicated jury resulted in the awarding of 455 medals – a testament to the high standards achieved. Among these, 134 gold, 141 silver, and 180 bronze medals were distributed, recognizing outstanding quality and craftsmanship across various categories.

A special mention must be made of the innovation award, which was presented to "Organic Argan Oil with Saffron" by the 'Amini' cooperative from the Marrakech-Safi region. This recognition highlights the forward-thinking approach of Moroccan producers who are not only preserving traditional methods but also innovating to create unique, high-value products that appeal to both domestic and international markets.
