Movimiento Ciudadano seeks impeachment of Sinaloa Governor and Culiacán Mayor

The Movimiento Ciudadano party in Sinaloa has taken a bold step by formally requesting the impeachment of Governor Rubén Rocha Moya and Culiacán Mayor Juan de Dios Gámez Mendívil. This move, presented to the State Congress, is directly linked to serious accusations leveled against the officials in the United States, prompting extradition requests.

Sergio Raúl Esquer Peiró, the state president of Movimiento Ciudadano, emphasized that these accusations are not surprising to many within Sinaloa. He stressed the importance of distinguishing between the alleged actions of these specific officials and the broader integrity of authorities in the state, asserting that not all officials are involved in criminal activity.

Instead, they frame it as a necessary response to judicial proceedings initiated in the United States, aiming to ensure accountability for those implicated in the alleged crimes.
