Craving authentic Korean food in the Klang Valley? Muri Cafe, located in Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, offers a genuine taste of Korea, with dishes prepared by a chef directly imported from South Korea who is also Muslim.

The cafe serves traditional Korean fare, including gimbap, jumeok-bap, rabokki, japchae, kimchi, and ramyeon. The reviewer and their family tried the soy garlic and yangnyeom flavored chicken wings, ros tteokbokki (rice cakes), and tuna rice balls. Nur Amelia Abdullah, 42, the owner and chef who hails from Busan, shared that her recipes are family heirlooms passed down from her mother. Her family has a long history in the food and beverage industry, operating restaurants and cafes in Busan and Daegu. "All the recipes and cooking methods were taught by my mother, and I mix and adapt them with local ingredients here," she explained.

Nur Amelia emphasizes a blend of imported and local ingredients, noting the availability of Halal-certified Korean products in Malaysia. She spent considerable time testing local brands to achieve the authentic taste. She also mentioned that while she had previously delegated cooking, she now prepares the dishes herself, assisted by her crew, to ensure the flavors remain consistent. The tteokbokki and chicken dishes are particularly popular among customers. For those less inclined towards Korean cuisine, Muri Cafe also offers options like Crispy Chicken Cutlet with Fries, which the reviewer found superior to fish and chips. The beverage menu includes a wide selection of coffees and non-coffee drinks.
