NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist hideout, neutralise fighters in Katsina

In a significant operation against terrorism in Nigeria's North-West, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has delivered a decisive blow to terrorist elements operating in Katsina State. The NAF's Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2 successfully destroyed a notorious hideout and neutralized numerous terrorists during a precision air strike, signaling a renewed commitment to eradicating banditry and insurgency in the region.

The operation, conducted on 1 May 2026, targeted a terrorist enclave within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area, following sustained and credible intelligence reports indicating renewed terrorist activity in the area.

Intelligence reports confirmed this location served as a critical logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to the notorious kingpin Abasu Aiki, who has been implicated in numerous attacks on communities and security forces. The NAF's swift and coordinated action, identifying armed terrorists on motorcycles and other fighters within the enclave, led to the destruction of their base and the elimination of key operatives.

Further intelligence confirmed that the location served as a logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to Abasu Aiki, who have been implicated in repeated attacks on communities and security forces across the Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis of Katsina State.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, highlighted the success of the operation, noting that Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of their support structures, which resulted in explosions and fires. This successful operation is a crucial step in disrupting the movement and re-supply capabilities of terrorist groups in the area.
