Nghệ An directs 'four-at-the-place' to help residents repair nearly 1,000 storm-damaged homes

In the wake of devastating storms that swept through Nghệ An province, the local government has mobilized resources under the 'four-at-the-place' directive to aid citizens in repairing nearly 1,000 homes damaged by high winds and heavy rain. Since May 3rd, the province has been battered by thunderstorms, torrential downpours, and hail, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The damage extends beyond residential properties, impacting agricultural lands and critical infrastructure, underscoring the severity of the natural disaster.

According to initial statistics, a staggering 980 homes have suffered roof damage or outright destruction. The impact on agriculture is equally severe, with over 8,284 hectares of rice fields affected, and significant losses reported in livestock and aquaculture. Furthermore, numerous transportation routes, irrigation systems, schools, and health stations have sustained damage, including the collapse of 28 low-voltage power poles and the burning or breaking of 160 meters of electrical wire.
