Nigeria Denies Postponement of Paramilitary Recruitment, Calls Document Fake

A fake press release, falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, had circulated, suggesting a deferral until after the 2027 general election due to funding issues. Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, issued a statement on Thursday clarifying that the purported press release is fraudulent and unauthorized. She emphasized that neither the Minister nor the CDCFIB originated or endorsed the document. The ministry stressed that no decision has been made to postpone the recruitment exercise, and it remains active. Members of the public and potential applicants are strongly advised to disregard the fake document entirely. They should exclusively rely on information disseminated through the verified platforms of the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB, including the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng. The government aims to prevent misinformation and ensure applicants receive accurate updates.
