Nigeria to Relocate Dukpa Allottees After Three-Week Verification Begins

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in Nigeria is set to begin a final verification exercise for individuals allocated plots under the defunct Dukpa Site and Services Scheme in Gwagwalada, Abuja. This crucial step precedes the planned relocation of genuine allottees to an alternative site within the same district.

The three-week verification process will commence on September 7, 2026, and will be conducted on working days. Affected allottees are required to present original allocation letters, payment receipts, valid identification, a sworn affidavit, and passport photographs at designated offices in Garki 2 and Mabushi, Abuja.

In line with Section 28(2B) of the Land Use Act, Cap 202, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (as amended), the Ministry has concluded arrangements to relocate all genuine allottees to an alternative site secured within Gwagwalada, and has scheduled a final verification exercise to authenticate claims ahead of the relocation.

Ministry officials stated that the exercise aims to authenticate claims and ensure that only genuine allottees are relocated. Plots or individuals not verified within the stipulated timeframe will be excluded from the relocation process, with no extensions granted. This initiative follows the revocation of original allocations made in 1992 for private development, which were later designated for the National Housing Programme.
