NMMA opens call for 2025 entries

Africa's premier media excellence platform, the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA), has officially commenced its call for entries for the 2026 awards. This annual program invites journalists and media organizations nationwide to submit their most impactful works published or broadcast throughout 2025.

The NMMA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to celebrating professionalism, credibility, and the highest standards of journalism. This initiative spans across print, broadcast, and digital media, including radio and television journalists, editors, photographers, and columnists.

Practitioners are reminded that submissions must be original works produced within the 2025 calendar year. "Only authentic and verifiable works will be considered," the organizers stressed, cautioning against entries that do not meet the stipulated guidelines. A broad spectrum of categories is available, covering reporting in politics, business, education, health, environment, oil and gas, agriculture, human rights, and defense. Special accolades will also be presented for outstanding editors, columnists, broadcasters, photographers, and media organizations.

The NMMA has outlined strict submission requirements, including the provision of original copies of work, curriculum vitae, and relevant identification materials. For electronic submissions, properly labeled flash drives are expected, with each submission clearly separated. Failure to adhere to these technical guidelines will result in automatic disqualification. Winners will be honored with the prestigious "Golden Gong of Excellence," accompanied by certificates and cash prizes, symbolizing outstanding journalistic merit. The deadline for all submissions is the end of May 2026.
