NNPP completes presidential candidate upload, restores original logo after legal victory

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has successfully completed the upload of its presidential candidate’s details onto the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The party has now commenced the process for its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, adhering to electoral guidelines. This exercise is expected to conclude on August 8, 2026, allowing for subsequent substitutions and replacements.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Major, revealed that the party also secured the restoration of its original logo on the INEC portal after a legal dispute. He hailed this as a victory for the rule of law and constitutional democracy, confirming that the "Basket of Fruits on the Nigerian map" symbol has been reinstated. "Today, I can confidently tell Nigerians that our original logo has been restored. The logo that generated controversy has been completely removed and anyone can verify this on the INEC portal," Major stated.

Major explained that the party had challenged the alteration of its logo in court, arguing that due process was not followed. The court ruled in favor of the NNPP, mandating the restoration of the original symbol. This development resolves concerns regarding the party's identity and legitimacy, and the chairman urged members and supporters to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilization for upcoming elections.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Major disclosed that the NNPP has successfully uploaded 365 National Assembly candidates, including placeholders, across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. He noted that placeholders were necessary in some constituencies pending the selection of substantive candidates. All 36 states currently have prospective governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, with further details to be released later. The party is calling on patriotic Nigerians to join the NNPP in its mission to build a new Nigeria.
