Obi, Kwankwaso unserious, seeking free platform — APC spokesman

The Punch reports on sharp criticism from the All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesperson, Felix Morka, directed at opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. Morka derided the duo as "unserious" politicians, citing their recent defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as evidence of their political instability and lack of commitment.

These fellows are very unserious and I don’t know how anyone takes them that seriously. These are opposition figures who ought to be concerned about enacting a blueprint for an alternative vision of governance in this country. What are they doing? They are busy just running from pillar to post, looking for a cheap, inexpensive, maybe even free platform to offer them the presidential ticket on a platter of gold.

Morka vehemently rejected the opposition's narrative that the APC is orchestrating turmoil within their ranks. He argued that Obi and Kwankwaso are not genuinely seeking to address political issues but are instead engaged in a perpetual search for a readily available presidential ticket, labeling their movements as a quest for "a cheap, inexpensive, maybe even free platform."

The APC spokesperson specifically called out Peter Obi for perceived hypocrisy. Morka reminded the audience that Obi had previously condemned politicians who switch parties for convenience, yet has now become a prime example of such behavior, which Morka termed a "nomadic movement." He suggested that Obi's pattern of abandoning parties when crises arise is not indicative of a serious presidential aspirant.

Furthermore, Morka insisted that the APC has no hand in the internal struggles plaguing opposition parties. He characterized the ADC's implosion as a result of internal ambitions and described the party as a "self-prepared grenade" that detonated on its own. The APC maintains that Nigeria is performing better under its leadership than opposition figures project, dismissing the opposition's actions as unserious political maneuvering.
