Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has called on political aspirants in the state to embrace a spirit of unity, patience, and leadership focused on building a lasting legacy. Speaking to members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Bello emphasized that political careers are fleeting, and true impact lies in the legacy left behind and the service rendered to the people.

Bello congratulated all aspirants who had obtained their expression of interest and nomination forms, reminding them that politics is transient and that every leader will one day leave the stage.

Bello, who governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, remains a significant figure in the state's political landscape. He congratulated aspirants who have obtained nomination forms, reminding them of the transient nature of political office and the importance of respecting those who have stepped aside to create opportunities. He urged them to return to their constituencies, reconcile with stakeholders, and engage deeply with the grassroots, recognizing that unity and inclusiveness are crucial for electoral success.

According to him, what endures is not the position held, but the legacy built and the impact made on the people.

Furthermore, Bello made it clear that no aspirant should have paid for endorsements, directing those who have to demand refunds. He expressed his desire to be remembered as a 'promise keeper.' The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu, commended Bello for fostering unity and cooperation during his administration, noting that this foundation has been sustained under the current governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
