A violent clash erupted between activists of the Jamaat and Gono Odhikar Parishad parties in Kushtia town, Bangladesh, leaving several individuals injured. The incident, which took place around 6:30 pm at the Chhoy Rastar Mor area, saw accusations of vandalism and assault exchanged between the two groups.

Gono Odhikar Parishad is a two-men party

The confrontation began when Gono Odhikar Parishad's Kushtia unit General Secretary Abdul Khaleque organized a demonstration to protest a recent remark by Jamaat MP Amir Hamza, who allegedly described their party as a "two-men party." Tensions escalated significantly when Amir Hamza's car arrived at the protest site. Gono Odhikar Parishad activists reportedly attacked the vehicle with sticks and bricks while Hamza was inside.

Amir Hamza claimed that Khaleque and another Gono Odhikar leader, Tauqir, led the attack on his car, resulting in injuries to himself and seven of his party members. He stated his intention to file an attempted murder case, naming Khaleque and Tauqir as prime accused. Conversely, Tauqir alleged that their peaceful demonstration was attacked without provocation and that their secretary's office was vandalized, with 8-10 party activists injured.

While both parties claimed approximately 15 activists were injured, hospital records indicate three individuals received treatment. Police have deployed additional forces to the area to control the situation and have assured that perpetrators will be brought to justice. The investigation is ongoing.
