The motorcade of Sirajganj-3 constituency Member of Parliament Aynul Haque, representing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), came under attack on Saturday evening at Dhangara Bazar in Raiganj upazila. The lawmaker escaped the incident unhurt, but his private car sustained partial damage.

According to police and local party sources, the attack occurred around 6:00 PM as Aynul Haque was leaving a consultation meeting regarding the establishment of a Technical Education and Training Centre in Raiganj. A group of unidentified miscreants suddenly ambushed his motorcade, shattering the windows of his vehicle. The MP was quickly and safely evacuated from the scene by his associates.

Following the incident, Aynul Haque alleged in a Facebook Live stream that the attackers intended to kill him. He expressed concern for his personal safety, even as a lawmaker. Both the MP and his associates pointed fingers at activists from Jamaat-e-Islami and the NCP for orchestrating the assault.

Saiful Islam Khan, additional superintendent of police for the Raiganj circle in Sirajganj, confirmed the attack and the damage to the lawmaker's car. He stated that the police are actively investigating, have collected video footage to identify those responsible, and will take legal action after the investigation. However, a formal written complaint had not yet been lodged at the time of reporting.

Jahidul Islam, secretary of the Sirajganj district unit of Jamaat, denied the allegations. He stated that their party members were engaged in a program when the incident took place, dismissing the accusations as a "false blame game."
