Opel Astra Facelift: Practicality and Efficiency Continue

Opel is continuing its tradition of delivering practical and refined vehicles with the facelifted Astra, proving that well-established models can still hold their own against the surging tide of SUVs and new manufacturers. For those who appreciate the virtues of a traditional car, the updated Astra offers familiar strengths combined with modern enhancements.

The practicality of the Astra remains a key selling point. The five-door version's cargo space can be expanded to an impressive 1339 liters by folding down the rear seats, while the Sports Tourer (wagon) variant offers an even more substantial 1634 liters. The wagon's rear seats also feature a convenient 40:20:40 split-folding mechanism, adding to its versatility.

Electrification and efficiency are at the forefront of the new Astra's offerings. The Astra Electric now achieves a commendable range of up to 454 kilometers on a full charge, thanks to its new 58 kWh battery, an improvement of nearly 35 kilometers over the previous model. Furthermore, it includes V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, allowing the battery to power external devices. For those not ready for full electric, Opel provides a 145 hp hybrid option and a more powerful 196 hp plug-in hybrid. The range is rounded out by a 130 hp 1.5-liter diesel engine, a rarity in its segment, with the wagon versions of the diesel and hybrid models priced more affordably than their hatchback equivalents.
