OSE Announces Water Cut in Montevideo Neighborhood on August 19

Obras Sanitarias del Estado (OSE), Uruguay's state water utility, has announced a planned water supply interruption for a section of Montevideo. The cut is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, affecting the Paso de la Arena neighborhood. The interruption is necessary to carry out programmed pipe replacement work within the Metropolitan System. OSE stated that the work aims to maintain and improve the water infrastructure. The affected area is bordered by Cno. De las Tropas, Cno. Del Fortín, Cno. Tomkinson, calle Llupes, Cno. Paso de la Arena, Paz Aguirre, Carlos de la Vega, and Pbtro. Bartolomeo Muñoz. Residents in Paso de la Arena can expect the water supply to be cut off starting at 9:00 AM and lasting until 2:30 PM on Wednesday. OSE personnel will be working on-site to restore normal service conditions as quickly as possible. Following the completion of the work, OSE cautioned that "occasional phenomena of turbidity" might occur as a consequence of the repairs. The company also noted that the schedule for these works is subject to change in case of inclement weather, with a suspension and rescheduling to follow if necessary.
