Osun Election: Ede voters troop to polling units

Residents of Ede in Osun State, Nigeria, actively participated in the ongoing governorship election on Saturday, flocking to various polling units to cast their votes. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) observed early morning activity, with vehicles transporting voters and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to polling stations. Some voters arrived as early as 6:30 a.m., awaiting accreditation by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials. Security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were visible at checkpoints and polling units across Ede North and Ede South Local Government Areas, enforcing restrictions on vehicular movement during the election. Local election observers were also present, monitoring the proceedings. While accreditation had begun in some locations, INEC officials were still preparing voter lists at others. The polling units visited included those in Ward 2, Unit 9; Ward 3, Unit 5; and Ward 4, Unit 2 in Ede North, as well as Ward 5, Unit 1; Ward 2, Unit 5; and Ward 2, Unit 3 in Ede South. Ede is notably the hometown of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate for the Accord Party.
