Overseas Vietnamese from 22 countries visit Trường Sa, inspect troops

Tuổi Trẻ highlights a deeply patriotic and unifying initiative: a delegation of 48 overseas Vietnamese, hailing from 22 different countries, undertook a significant journey to visit and support the military and civilian communities stationed in Vietnam's Trường Sa (Spratly) Islands. This mission, the 10th of its kind, underscores the strong connection the Vietnamese diaspora maintains with their homeland and their commitment to national sovereignty. The delegates participated in various meaningful activities, including offering gifts and words of encouragement to the soldiers and residents. Their visit, which spanned seven islands and a DK-1 platform, served not only as a gesture of solidarity but also as a powerful demonstration of the diaspora's tangible support, with over 1.2 billion Vietnamese đồng (approximately $50,000 USD) in donations collected. Notably, the Hoàng Sa - Trường Sa Club in Poland and the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic contributed significantly to a "Greening Trường Sa" project, establishing a second vegetable garden. For many delegates, the experience was profoundly emotional, marked by pride in the resilience of the Trường Sa defenders and a shared sense of national identity. This event powerfully illustrates how the Vietnamese diaspora actively participates in safeguarding national interests and contributing to the development and well-being of remote territories, a sentiment often expressed with deep emotion and national pride within Vietnam.
