Pakistan expands US lobbying push with focus on defence, critical minerals and policy influence

Washington D.C. – Pakistan is intensifying its strategic outreach in the United States, signaling a concerted effort to bolster its influence in key policy areas. The recent signing of a $1.2 million contract with the Washington-based Ervin Graves Strategy Group LLC, as detailed in filings under the U.S. Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), marks a significant expansion of Islamabad's lobbying footprint.

The two-year contract, valued at $50,000 per month, mandates the firm to engage in a broad spectrum of activities. These include lobbying U.S. policymakers, legislative monitoring, stakeholder engagement, media messaging, and policy advisory support. Crucially, the mandate extends to strategic sectors such as trade and investment promotion, critical minerals cooperation, and defense and security engagement. This focus reflects the growing importance of these areas in U.S. foreign policy, particularly amidst global supply-chain realignments and heightened great-power competition.

An official from the Pakistan Embassy in Washington emphasized that hiring lobbyists is a standard practice within the American system, ensuring transparency through FARA registration.
