Palanga Allocates €700,000 for Historic Church Renovation

Palanga, Lithuania's beloved seaside resort, is set to undergo a significant restoration of its iconic church, a testament to the town's rich history and architectural heritage. The Palanga municipality has earmarked a substantial sum of over 740,000 euros for the much-needed renovation of this cultural landmark, signaling a commitment to preserving its beauty and structural integrity for future generations.

The scope of the planned works is extensive, encompassing the meticulous repair of various interior spaces and intricate architectural elements. Special attention will be given to the church's tower, including its masonry and joints, ensuring its stability and visual appeal. Furthermore, the project includes a complete overhaul of the building's electrical installation and the implementation of modern security and fire alarm systems, bringing the historic structure up to contemporary safety standards.

This neogothic church, a distinctive feature of Palanga's skyline, holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Construction began in 1907 and was completed during the interwar period, making it a living piece of Lithuanian history. Its unique features, such as three altars crafted by masters from Toulouse and a striking marble pulpit imported from France, speak to its historical significance and the craftsmanship of its era. The nearly 60-meter-high tower, visible from afar, has also served as a point of interest, with an observation deck established eight years ago at a height of 21 meters.
