Panama City Mayor's Office and Ombudsman Collaborate on Ex-Employees' Bonuses and Protest Investigation

The Municipality of Panama is actively collaborating with the Ombudsman's Office to ensure the payment of seniority bonuses for former municipal employees. This initiative is particularly focused on resolving outstanding claims, some of which date back to 2014 and originate from previous administrations.

According to a statement from the Mayor's Office, there is an "open communication and constant coordination" with the Ombudsman's Office. This ongoing dialogue aims to track requests from former municipal workers and advance the processing of their cases in line with established procedures. The office emphasized its commitment to transparency and adherence to protocols in handling these matters.

In addition to the bonus payments, the Mayor's Office has confirmed its cooperation with the Ombudsman's Office and other authorities concerning investigations into an incident that occurred on August 4. This incident involved a protest on the ground floor of the Hatillo building. The municipality reaffirmed its dedication to working collaboratively and transparently with the Ombudsman's Office on all relevant matters.
