Paraguayan deputies to attend anti-antisemitism forum in Dominican Republic

Two deputies from Paraguay's Honor Colorado bloc, Héctor Figueredo and Christian Brunaga, are scheduled to travel to the Dominican Republic this month to participate in a regional forum on combating antisemitism.

The VI Latin American Forum of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) will take place from August 23 to 26 in Santo Domingo. The gathering is expected to convene more than 70 leaders from 19 countries, including 44 legislators, alongside diplomats, civil society representatives, international organization officials, academics, and various other prominent figures.

Discussions at the forum will center on critical challenges facing societies today, such as discrimination, hate speech, extremism, and various forms of intolerance. A significant emphasis will be placed on antisemitism and its impact across Latin America. Paraguayan lawmakers Figueredo and Brunaga will be part of a group of parliamentarians from across the region engaging in these discussions.

Notable international attendees will include Uruguayan diplomat and journalist Washington Abdala, U.S. Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism Yehuda Kaploun, OAS Commissioner for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism Fernando Lottenberg, CAM's Latin America Advisory Council President Pilar Rahola, and Argentine judge Franco Fiumara. Organizers have highlighted the importance of the participants and the regional scope of the event, noting the presence of Paraguayan representatives.
