Parung Set to Become New Economic Center, Integrated Modern Area in North Bogor Regency

Bupati Bogor, Rudy Susmanto, is spearheading an ambitious plan to revitalize the Parung area, transforming it into a vibrant new economic center for the northern Bogor Regency. This initiative goes beyond mere market renovation; it envisions a modern, integrated zone encompassing trade, culinary experiences, and transportation, aiming to significantly boost the local economy and improve public convenience.

The core of the plan involves developing a well-organized fish market, complemented by a comfortable dining area on the upper floor. This unique concept allows visitors to enjoy local cuisine while observing the bustling trade below. "The concept is not just a regular market. We want a well-organized fish market, then upstairs there is a comfortable place to eat. People can enjoy culinary delights while seeing the trading activities below," explained Regent Rudy during a coordination meeting.

To tackle the persistent issue of traffic congestion in Parung, caused by haphazard public transport stops, the development will include integrated parking facilities (park and ride) and dedicated public transport shelters. This strategic approach aims to streamline mobility and enhance the overall urban experience. The Bogor Regency government has identified two key land parcels, one approximately 7,000 square meters for the main economic hub and another of about 2 hectares for supporting infrastructure and transport access.

Regent Rudy emphasized that the project's goal is not only to upgrade infrastructure but also to directly stimulate economic activity within the community. He stressed the importance of public-private partnerships to expedite the development process, stating, "We don't want government land to just sit idle. It's better to collaborate so it can provide economic benefits to the community." The regional government is offering flexible collaboration schemes, including long-term leases and joint operations, along with streamlined permit processes for compliant projects. This forward-thinking approach signals a new era of development for Parung, promising enhanced economic opportunities and a more organized urban landscape.
