PAS: Dialogue with Bersatu Closed After State Election Contest

PAS, the leading party in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, has declared that the possibility of peaceful dialogue with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) is now closed. This decision stems from Bersatu's move to contest against the PN coalition in the recent Negeri Sembilan State Election, a move PAS views as a betrayal of their alliance.

PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang articulated the party's stance, stating that Bersatu's actions in the state election were a primary factor. He further pointed to public statements made by Bersatu leaders expressing their readiness to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan (PH) as additional evidence of a fractured relationship. "Yes, basically, they (Bersatu) contested against us in the Negeri Sembilan State Election. And there are statements about wanting to join, together with PH," Awang told reporters.

This declaration signals a significant rift within the opposition bloc, particularly between PAS and Bersatu, two key components of PN. The Negeri Sembilan election saw PN candidates competing against each other in several seats, a situation that has clearly strained the coalition's internal dynamics. The mention of potential cooperation with PH, a rival coalition, further complicates the political landscape.

The comments were made following a religious lecture in Masjid Rusila, Marang.
