Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026 Encourages Participants to Reduce Plastic Waste

PT Pertamina (Persero) is set to host the Pertamina Eco RunFest 2026, a running event designed to inspire participants and the wider community to actively reduce plastic waste and promote environmental sustainability. The 16th edition of the Eco RunFest, themed 'Spark the Change, Leave Zero Trace,' specifically highlights the issue of plastic waste. The event is scheduled for December 6 in Jakarta, offering race distances of 21.1 km (half marathon), 10 km, and 5 km. According to Ahmad Siddik Badruddin, Director of Risk Management at PT Pertamina (Persero), the run aims to demonstrate that protecting the environment can begin with simple, everyday actions, including participating in sports. He stated that for Pertamina, running embodies more than just reaching the finish line; it teaches spirit, discipline, resilience, togetherness, and consistency – values that align with the company's commitment to providing energy and driving sustainability initiatives. Pertamina has been actively involved in various environmental sustainability efforts, such as developing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), decarbonization projects, and corporate social responsibility programs like the Desa Energi. The Eco RunFest is a platform to extend these efforts and encourage broader public participation in environmental stewardship. The event also serves as an opportunity to educate the public about the plastic waste problem and encourage responsible handling, including reducing plastic use, proper sorting, reuse, and recycling. Pertamina believes that good energy not only powers people but also contributes positively to the environment and future generations. The Pertamina Eco RunFest has received licensing from the Indonesian Athletics Federation (PB PASI) and World Athletics, adding to its prestige and reach.
