PGN supplies natural gas to Semarang bicycle factory to boost efficiency

PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) is expanding the use of natural gas in the industrial sector by supplying energy to PT Roda Pasifik Mandiri, a new bicycle factory in Semarang, Central Java. This move is part of a broader effort to boost energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions within the manufacturing industry.

The factory, which produces bicycles, electric bicycles, and electric motorcycles, will receive a monthly supply of 50,000 cubic meters of natural gas through PGN's pipeline network. The company anticipates that this switch to natural gas will not only improve production cost efficiency but also significantly reduce the carbon footprint of its operations.

Sugianto Eko Cahyono, Area Head of PGN Semarang, expressed appreciation for PT Roda Pasifik Mandiri's trust in PGN. He highlighted that the reliable and sustainable energy supply provided through the pipeline network is crucial for enhancing productivity and competitiveness to meet market demand. This collaboration is seen as a key step in promoting energy transition within Semarang's industrial sector.

PGN plans to continue expanding its natural gas pipeline infrastructure to other potential industrial areas in Central Java. This expansion aims to provide more competitive energy access for industries and support the government's target of achieving net-zero emissions. By promoting efficient energy use in manufacturing, PGN seeks to strengthen national energy security and foster more sustainable industrial growth.
