Road Access in Geragai Improves, Facilitating Easier Distribution of Residents' Plantation Yields

The improvement of road infrastructure in plantation-producing regions is proving to be a critical factor in boosting local economies. Beyond enhancing user safety, well-maintained roads significantly expedite the distribution of agricultural and plantation products, fostering better connectivity between areas. SKK Migas–PetroChina International Jabung Ltd. has demonstrated this commitment by completing the construction of a 1.96-kilometer rigid concrete road. This new infrastructure connects Simpang 4 Blok D to the Geragai Sub-district Office in Pandan Jaya Village, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Jambi. Built under the Community Engagement and Development Program (PPM), the road now serves as a primary access route for residents to the government center and key economic zones. Previously, the road was in severe disrepair, with large potholes posing hazards, especially during the rainy season when they became submerged. This condition hindered the transport of plantation yields, particularly palm oil. During the dry season, thick dust also disrupted daily life. The completion of this project has brought tangible benefits, as confirmed by Firdaus, the village head of Pandan Jaya. He stated, "We are grateful that the construction of this road has been realized. This road is the main access for the community, so its benefits are truly felt by the residents every day." Local resident Sutrisno echoed this sentiment, describing the previous difficulties farmers faced in transporting harvests due to the treacherous road conditions. He noted that vehicles often had to travel slowly to avoid hidden potholes, and some struggled to pass. The dust during dry periods was also a significant issue. "Now the community is happy because the road is concreted, making it safer and more comfortable to travel," he said. The sub-district head, Iduar Aidi, praised the support from SKK Migas–PetroChina International Jabung Ltd., emphasizing the importance of collaboration between government and the business sector in accelerating development, especially given budget constraints. He expressed hope for continued infrastructure development to further improve connectivity and economic activity in the region.
