Poland Proposes Pilot Program for Longer Trucks

Poland is exploring a pilot program to test longer truck combinations on its roads, potentially allowing for more efficient cargo transport. A draft amendment to the country's road traffic and road transport laws, published recently, outlines the possibility of testing vehicle sets that exceed current size and weight restrictions.

These longer vehicles could include European Modular System (EMS) combinations. EMS trucks are designed to carry a greater volume of cargo in a single journey compared to standard trucks. The proposed pilot program would assess how these larger vehicles perform within the Polish transport infrastructure.

The initiative, if approved, could lead to significant changes in logistics and freight transport within Poland. By allowing for larger loads, the aim is to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain and potentially reduce the number of trips required for certain types of cargo.
