Poland's Top Law Firms Outside Warsaw: Regional Leaders Hold Their Ground

Regional law firms across Poland are holding their ground, according to Rzeczpospolita's annual ranking of legal practices outside the capital. The study identifies leading firms based on the size of their legal teams, distinguishing between overall lawyer numbers and those holding professional qualifications like advocates and legal advisors.

While Warsaw remains the epicenter of Poland's legal services market, the ranking highlights that regional firms possess their own distinct leadership and areas of expertise. Their standing is determined not only by headcount but also by client profiles, local economic conditions, and the specific niches where they have established a competitive advantage.

The most significant regional legal markets are concentrated around Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Katowice, and the Tricity area. These markets are characterized by a substantial number of firms and large legal teams. Each market exhibits unique traits: some firms thrive on servicing industries, investments, and real estate, while others focus on family businesses, specialized practices, or mass litigation, such as the Swiss franc mortgage disputes.

The largest regional legal markets are concentrated around Wroclaw, Krakow, Poznan, Katowice and Tricity.

Wroclaw stands out as a particularly strong regional legal hub. The largest firm in Lower Silesia, Raven P. Krupa, based in Wroclaw, retains its top position with 166 lawyers, including 52 qualified advocates and legal advisors. This makes it the largest team in the entire regional ranking. Olesiński i Wspólnicy, also from Wroclaw, secured the second spot with 119 lawyers, 82 of whom are qualified professionals. Sobota Jachira ranks third with 82 lawyers, 67 of whom are qualified. Collectively, Wroclaw's top three firms boast over 360 lawyers.

In the Wielkopolska region, the Poznan-based firm Grobla21 – Horbatowska Łuczak Kasiński Prażanowski leads with 90 lawyers, including 38 qualified professionals. Sowisło Topolewski follows with 78 lawyers, 54 of whom are qualified. DSK Depa Szmit Kuźmiak Jackowski climbed to third place with a team of 70 lawyers, 45 of whom are qualified. The Poznan market, similar to Krakow, features a diverse range of firms, from large corporate service providers to those with specialized practices in areas like labor law or legal and tax consulting.
