Polda Metro Jaya Deploys 125 Personnel to Secure Bapenda DKI Building Fire Site

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police have mobilized 125 personnel to secure the vicinity of the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) building after a fire broke out early Saturday morning. The deployment is intended to guarantee unimpeded access for fire engines and ambulances, crucial for the effective management of the emergency situation.

Kombes Reynold EP Hutagalung, the Central Jakarta Police Chief, stated that the security forces comprise personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya's Samapta and Brimob units. They are coordinating with the 0501/Jakarta Pusat Military District Command, which has also assigned 50 personnel to bolster security at the scene. "We are working together on the ground and coordinating with Polda Metro Jaya, which has deployed both Samapta and Brimob. The total number of personnel present is approximately 125," Hutagalung said.

Hutagalung emphasized that the primary objective of the security presence is to facilitate the entry of fire trucks from the outset of the incident, preventing any logistical hindrances. Additionally, ensuring clear pathways for ambulances is a priority to enable prompt medical assistance should any victims require it. The personnel are expected to remain on duty until the fire is completely extinguished.

Amidst the ongoing firefighting efforts, the police have initiated a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Hutagalung mentioned that statements have been taken from around 10 witnesses in the vicinity. However, he stressed that the immediate focus remains on suppressing the fire. The police plan to conduct more intensive interviews with individuals who witnessed the initial moments of the incident, both those near the building and those who were inside.
