Police Arrest 27-Year-Old Man for Alleged Defilement of Teenage Domestic Worker in Ondo

Ondo State police have arrested a 27-year-old man, Solomon Onaola, in connection with the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old domestic worker. The incident reportedly took place in Omifon, within the Odigbo council area of the state.

Following the report, police operatives commenced investigation and subsequently arrested the suspect.

According to a report filed at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station, the victim's guardian noticed the teenager leaving home without permission on several occasions. When questioned, the girl allegedly revealed that Onaola had been taking her to his late mother's residence in Omifon, where he subjected her to unlawful sexual intercourse.

The case was transferred to the Gender-Based Offences Unit of the Ondo State Police Command for a discreet investigation. DSP Jimoh Abayomi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and stated that the victim is under appropriate care. He added that the Commissioner of Police has directed a thorough investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice.

The victim has also been placed under appropriate care and necessary steps are being taken in accordance with established procedures for cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors.

Abayomi reiterated the command's commitment to protecting children and vulnerable individuals from sexual exploitation and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant. The suspect is in custody pending the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender-Based Offences Unit to conduct a thorough and professional investigation into the matter, with a view to establishing the facts and ensuring that justice is served.

In a separate incident in Owo, police arrested a 32-year-old man, Ogunmola Oluwasola, during a stop-and-search operation. Operatives recovered a cut-to-size pistol and four rounds of live ammunition from him. The suspect is being investigated to determine the source of the weapon and his potential involvement in other criminal activities.
