Police Question 39 Witnesses in East Bekasi Train Collision Probe

The investigation into the train collision at East Bekasi Station on April 27, 2026, is actively progressing, with the Indonesian National Police having interviewed a significant number of witnesses. A total of 39 individuals have provided statements to investigators, shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the incident that involved the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a Commuter Line (KRL).

According to the Head of Public Relations for the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, the police are meticulously examining all facets of the case. The 39 witnesses include a complainant, individuals named in the police report, victims, bystanders, vehicle operators, railway operational staff, officials from relevant agencies, and even witnesses from the online taxi company Green SM, which was reportedly involved. This comprehensive approach aims to gather a complete picture of the events leading up to the collision.

Pemeriksaan lanjutan difokuskan tentang unsur teknis perkeretaapian, instansi terkait, serta pihak yang berkaitan dengan operasional kendaraan taksi online.

Currently, the investigation is concentrating on technical railway aspects, the roles of involved agencies, and the operational details concerning the online taxi. The police are working in conjunction with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) and the Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor) of the National Police to ensure a thorough and independent assessment. While respecting the KNKT's ongoing investigation, the police are simultaneously pursuing their own inquiry into both the collision between the online taxi and the KRL, and the separate incident involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL.
