Prabowo Orders Special Fuel Price for Fishermen After Hambalang Meeting

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto convened a limited meeting with several ministers at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Monday night, July 13, 2026. The primary focus of the discussion was the pricing of special fuel for fishermen. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto confirmed that the meeting addressed various economic topics, including energy availability. "One of the agendas discussed was related to the price of special fuel for fishermen," Airlangga stated, as reported by the Presidential Secretariat. President Prabowo proposed a new fuel price of Rp15,000 per liter for fishermen operating vessels between 30 and 200 gross tonnage. For fishermen with smaller boats, those under 30 gross tonnage, the fuel price will remain at Rp6,800 per liter, a rate already in place. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia indicated that the meeting also covered broader government efforts to support fishermen, including the provision of fuel subsidies for their boats. Lahadalia expressed optimism that the new energy subsidy scheme would positively impact fishermen's operations and announced that a decision from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources would follow shortly. The high-level meeting saw the attendance of numerous ministers and officials. Among them were Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Investment and Industry Enhancement Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi. Ministers overseeing higher education, industry, and agrarian affairs were also present, alongside key figures from the Cabinet Secretariat and state-owned enterprises. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to supporting the vital fishing sector.
