Prabowo Signs Regulation Boosting Ad Hoc Judge Salaries to Rp105 Million

President Prabowo Subianto's administration has taken a significant step to bolster the judiciary by signing Presidential Regulation No. 5 of 2026, which substantially enhances the financial package for ad hoc judges. This move reflects a commitment to ensuring these crucial judicial figures are adequately compensated and supported, thereby strengthening the integrity and efficiency of the courts.

The regulation, enacted on February 5, 2026, provides a comprehensive framework for the financial rights and facilities afforded to ad hoc judges. This includes monthly allowances, provision of state housing, transportation support, robust health and security guarantees essential for their demanding roles, and a calculated end-of-service award based on tenure. The detailed provisions aim to remove financial uncertainties and allow judges to focus on their duties.

Notably, the regulation specifies varying allowance levels across different court types. Ad hoc judges presiding over high-stakes cases at the Corruption Courts, Industrial Relations Courts, Human Rights Courts, and Commercial Courts at the Cassation level are set to receive the highest monthly allowances, reaching up to Rp105.27 million. This tiered structure acknowledges the varying complexities and responsibilities associated with different judicial tiers.

Furthermore, the regulation addresses the conditions under which ad hoc judges receive their end-of-service awards, stipulating that those dismissed for misconduct or criminal convictions will forfeit these benefits.
