Professor First to Vote in DUN Sikamat State Election

Professor Datin Dr. Sapora Sipon, Dean of the Faculty of Counseling, Education, and Social Sciences at Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (UniSHAMS), cast the first vote at the Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Kampus Raja Melewar polling station in Sikamat. She arrived at 7:30 AM to ensure a smooth voting process and fulfill her responsibility as a voter in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

"Alhamdulillah, I arrived early this morning to fulfill my duty as a voter. I live in the Sikamat area and always vote here," Sapora told Utusan Malaysia. She arrived alone to cast her ballot, emphasizing the importance of individual participation in the democratic process.

The Sikamat state constituency is witnessing a three-cornered contest. The candidates vying for the seat are Norazman Mohamad, representing the state government's political secretary, Datuk Razali Abu Samah from Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Datuk Zamri Md Said from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Today marks a decisive moment for 103 candidates competing in the Negeri Sembilan state election. A total of 889,490 voters are eligible to choose the party that will lead the state administration for the next five years. The 36 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats are being contested by candidates from major political parties, including Barisan Nasional (BN), Pakatan Harapan (PH), Perikatan Nasional (PN), Bersatu, and independent candidates.
