Repair work starts on 11 km section of Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys road

The renovation of an 11-kilometer section of the Šiauliai–Pakruojis–Pasvalys road has commenced, with completion anticipated by the end of the year. The project aims to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow along this vital route.

The specific segment undergoing repairs begins at kilometer 23.978, after passing through the villages of Ramoniškiai and Užubaliai, and extends to kilometer 35.618, beyond the intersection with the regional road No. 149 Smilgiai–Pakruojis. This extensive work will cover a significant portion of the road, addressing wear and tear and potential safety hazards.

Key elements of the renovation include the repair of critical intersections, which are often points of congestion and accidents. Additionally, bus stops along the route will be upgraded to improve passenger convenience and safety. A notable part of the project involves the refurbishment of the bridge crossing the Obelė River, ensuring its structural integrity and continued usability.

The contract for this substantial undertaking has been awarded to the company HISK, with the total value of the agreement amounting to 5.5 million euros, including value-added tax. This investment underscores the commitment to maintaining and improving Lithuania's road infrastructure.
