Revolut founder Nik Storonsky could become Europe's richest man

Revolut founder Nik Storonsky is poised to potentially become the wealthiest individual in Europe, and one of the top 10 richest globally, through a new incentive program. This program could significantly boost his stake in the fintech giant, potentially reaching $200 billion if Revolut achieves a valuation of $500 billion.

The Financial Times reports that this long-term motivational scheme ties additional compensation to Storonsky's achievement of ambitious growth targets for Revolut. If the company's valuation hits the $500 billion mark, Storonsky would be eligible for a substantial stock bonus package. Currently, his holdings represent 29% of the company.

This strategy mirrors compensation models common among U.S. tech firms, notably Elon Musk's incentive plan at Tesla, which propelled his wealth significantly. If Revolut reaches the $500 billion valuation, Storonsky's shares could be worth around $200 billion, surpassing current European leaders like Amancio Ortega and Bernard Arnault.

Revolut's current valuation stands at approximately $115 billion, with Storonsky's 29% stake estimated at $33 billion. This would place him around 66th on Forbes' global billionaires list. Storonsky, born in Russia, founded Revolut in London in 2015 with Vlad Yatsenko. He renounced his Russian passport in 2022 and became a British citizen.
