Riga's warmest swimming water found at Bolderājas quarry, cooler at Bābelītis

Riga's Municipal Police are advising residents to choose one of the city's nine official swimming locations for recreation, emphasizing that lifeguards are present to ensure safety.

Lifeguards are stationed at these designated spots daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. For assistance during nighttime hours, help is available at six specific rescue stations: Vecāķi, Vakarbuļļi, Lucavsala, Rumbula, Bābelītis, and Ķīšezers. The police note, however, that the number of lifeguards on duty during night shifts is smaller compared to daytime.

As of Sunday, August 2, the warmest water temperature was recorded at Bolderājas quarry, reaching 23 degrees Celsius. Ķīšezers and Daugavgrīva waters had warmed to 22 degrees, Lucavsala to 21 degrees, and Vakarbuļļi, Ķīpsala, and Rumbula to 20 degrees. In contrast, Vecāķu beach had cooler water at 19 degrees, with Bābelītis being the coldest at 18 degrees Celsius.
