RNI Defends Government Record, Cites Reforms Amidst Challenges

The National Rally of Independents (RNI) has firmly stood by the current government's performance, led by Aziz Akhannouch. In a recent gathering in Casablanca, party president Mohamed Chokri lauded the government's "qualitative" achievements in managing public affairs, framing them within a comprehensive vision to safeguard the dignity of Moroccan citizens and families. The RNI acknowledges the significant hurdles the government has navigated, from a severe drought impacting the nation to the ripple effects of global crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing international conflicts.

Chokri stressed that the nation has weathered a difficult period requiring tough but necessary decisions. He underscored the importance of continuity to see through the ongoing reform agenda. The RNI, often referred to as the "party of the dove," highlighted the government's proactive approach, shifting from a reactive stance to one of initiative and solution-building, rather than passively observing challenges. This strategic shift, the party asserts, has been central to its governance.

The current government chose to create solutions and move from a logic of reaction to a logic of initiative, instead of remaining a spectator.

The RNI emphasized the government's commitment to major choices: maintaining economic balance, building a social state, and restoring faith in political engagement. These choices, they argue, have been translated into tangible realities. A significant point of pride is the direct support extended to four million Moroccan families, benefiting 12 million citizens and reinforcing social rights. Furthermore, the government has absorbed between 30 and 40 billion dirhams in subsidies for essential goods, aiming to alleviate the burden on Moroccan households and protect their purchasing power.

Beyond economic measures, the RNI pointed to improvements in public sector salaries to bolster the middle class and the expansion of health coverage to 22 million Moroccans. Investments in healthcare infrastructure, including the renovation of over 1,400 health centers, and financial support for more than 3.4 million students, alongside reforms benefiting over 114,000 teachers, were also cited as evidence of the government's positive impact. From the RNI's perspective, these actions demonstrate a government actively working to improve the lives of its citizens.
