Romania Faces Torrential Rains and Thunderstorms Under Yellow Code Warning

Romania is bracing for unstable weather on Friday, July 24, as meteorologists have issued a yellow code warning for heavy rainfall in multiple counties. The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) forecasts torrential downpours, thunderstorms, strong winds reaching 50-70 km/h, and hail in large parts of Muntenia, the mountainous areas, and southwestern Moldova and Transylvania, particularly in the afternoon. Rainfall amounts could reach 20-30 liters per square meter, with isolated areas exceeding 40-50 liters per square meter within short intervals. Elsewhere, the weather will be variable with localized atmospheric instability. Maximum temperatures will range from 19-21 degrees Celsius in Maramureș, eastern Transylvania, and northwestern Moldova, up to 27-28 degrees in Muntenia and continental Dobrogea. Minimum temperatures are expected between 7-8 degrees in eastern Transylvania and 19 degrees on the coast. Fog may form in the early morning hours in northwestern and central regions. In Bucharest, the weather will be generally unstable, with temperatures below the usual for late July. The maximum temperature will be around 26-27 degrees Celsius, and the minimum 14-15 degrees. The capital will experience cloudy skies with temporary intensification of clouds in the afternoon and evening, bringing torrential showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
