Salesman stabbed to death by shop employees over enmity in Dhaka

A fatal stabbing at the East Bengal Supermarket near Dhaka's Sadarghat has left a young salesman dead and sparked demands for justice. Mitul, 20, originally from Jhalakathi, was allegedly attacked by employees of other shops on Saturday evening following a prior quarrel.

Witnesses told police that a group of shop employees confronted Mitul on the 13th floor of the supermarket, where he resided, and stabbed him in the chest with scissors around 8:30 p.m. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument two days prior, during which Mitul allegedly slapped someone from the market.

Authorities were alerted and responded to the scene, recovering Mitul's body. It was transported to Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital for an autopsy. Following the discovery, a procession formed, moving from Sadarghat to the hospital, with participants calling for justice for the slain salesman.

Mitul was also identified as an activist with the Jatiotabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, a wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, for Dhaka Metropolitan South's Ward 37. His political affiliation was confirmed by Muftizul Kabir Keeron, a former joint general secretary of the Chhatra Dal (student wing) for the same region.
