Security, Investment and Competitiveness Take Center Stage in Poland’s Energy Debate

Energy Days 2026 will take place at Katowice’s International Congress Centre on September 30 and October 1, bringing the practical challenges of Poland’s energy transition into focus. Representatives of the energy industry, manufacturing, government and academia are expected to discuss how the sector will develop.

The event comes as energy policy increasingly combines climate goals with concerns about supply security, affordability and the competitiveness of the wider economy. The investment scale described by organizers will require expanded networks, new generation capacity, greater energy-storage capability and stronger domestic expertise and supply chains.

The future of the power system will be a central theme. Rising renewable generation and the electrification of more parts of the economy are creating pressure to modernize infrastructure and make it more flexible. Networks, storage and systems for managing electricity will therefore feature alongside discussions of new generating capacity.

The agenda will include nuclear power and small modular reactors, offshore and onshore wind, solar power, biogas and hydrogen. Participants will also examine financing, construction schedules and the ability of the Polish economy to take part in large investment projects. Industry representatives are expected to discuss the cost of the transition, ways to reduce energy use and new supply models.

Digitalization will form another part of the program. Artificial intelligence, process automation, intelligent infrastructure management and cybersecurity are increasingly affecting the operation of the energy sector. The organizers have announced dozens of debates, presentations, expert sessions, business meetings and special events over the two-day gathering.
