Seven Injured in Buenos Aires Collision, Police Car Overturns

A chaotic scene unfolded early Saturday morning at the intersection of Corrientes and Callao avenues in Buenos Aires when a police patrol car collided with a private vehicle, resulting in seven injuries and a dramatic overturned patrol car.

The incident, which occurred just before 6 a.m., saw the police's Nissan Frontier patrol vehicle flip onto its side. The impact also sent the patrol car crashing into a parked Honda motorcycle. The other vehicle involved, a white Audi A3, was carrying five young people returning from a nightclub.

Paramedics treated the seven injured individuals at the scene. The two police officers in the patrol car were taken to Ramos Mejía Hospital with multiple injuries but are not in life-threatening condition. A 28-year-old Venezuelan national driving the Audi was transported to Rivadavia Hospital, while his passengers received medical attention on-site.

Adding a concerning layer to the incident, the Audi involved in the crash has a documented history of 109 traffic violations in the city, primarily for speeding and lack of insurance, accumulating a debt exceeding five million pesos. Federal Police experts are investigating the cause of the crash, with preliminary reports suggesting the police vehicle may have run a red light without its siren activated. Firefighters and traffic police managed the scene, causing significant disruptions in the city center.
