SME.sk Earns Five Nominations for Journalist Award

SME and its publishing house, Petit Press, are proud to announce that our reporters and independent publicists have secured five nominations for the prestigious 2025 Novinárska cena (Journalist Award). This recognition from the 22nd annual competition, which reviewed 450 entries from nearly fifty editorial offices, highlights the quality and diversity of our journalistic work.

Our nominations reflect the breadth of our coverage. Daniela Hajčáková's interview with a British teacher grappling with the decision to leave Slovakia, exploring the brain drain phenomenon, is nominated in Written Journalism – Interview. Meanwhile, Korzár reporters Lenka Haniková and Jana Ogurčáková earned a nomination in Regional Journalism for their investigative series exposing questionable practices at a school in Spiš, underscoring our commitment to holding local power accountable.

Further demonstrating our multimedia strength, Katarína Urban Richterová is nominated for her podcast series "Čo skrýva umenie?" (What Does Art Hide?), which delves into the historical context of artworks. Our blog section is also recognized, with Zuzana Fialová nominated for her piece on national renewal and Veronika Pirošík Mešková for her contribution on female resilience in the "ŽIŤ INAK" (Living Differently) blog.
