This 'multimaterial shortage' poses a considerable risk, potentially leading to stock crises, extended lead times, reduced production capacity, and ultimately, higher prices for finished goods. With over 70% of the national industry's raw material needs met through imports, the vulnerability to global shocks is immense. While this crisis presents challenges, it also offers an opportunity for Indonesia to bolster its national supply chain resilience. Recommendations include diversifying import sources, enhancing domestic raw material production, improving supply chain visibility through technology, and developing alternative materials. A concerted effort between industry and government is crucial to strengthen the upstream sector and build a more robust, integrated supply chain capable of withstanding future global pressures.
