Soldier claims dismissal after reporting procurement violations in Lithuania's Defence Ministry

Lithuanian soldier Audrius Beinoras has come forward alleging irregularities in public procurement processes at the Ministry of National Defence. Beinoras claims that the conditions set for public tenders might have been manipulated to favor certain companies, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the allocation of state contracts.

Following his report on these alleged procurement violations, Beinoras states he was subsequently dismissed from his service. He believes his termination is a direct consequence of his whistleblowing activities, suggesting a retaliatory action by the ministry.

However, the Ministry of National Defence has refuted Beinoras's claims of retaliation. The ministry asserts that his dismissal is not connected to his reporting of procurement issues. Instead, they explained that the extension of military service is considered a privilege, not an entitlement, and is contingent upon the needs of the defense system. The ministry maintains that the decision was based on operational requirements rather than any punitive motive related to Beinoras's whistleblowing.
