Solidarity restarts San Juan Nepomuceno Hospital ambulance

A wave of solidarity among citizens, businessmen, and residents of San Juan Nepomuceno has initiated the recovery of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ambulance from the District Hospital. The vehicle had been out of service, but community contributions are enabling its repair to once again provide patient transport.

The repair work is being handled by Elvio Ibarra, owner of a local mechanical workshop. He explained that the ambulance had several mechanical problems preventing its use. These issues were addressed progressively thanks to the collaboration of various individuals. A significant problem involved damaged fuel injectors, which required specialized repair. This was managed in Asunción with financial support from a local businessman who helped cover the costs of sending the components to the capital for repair.

In addition to the injector repairs, the fuel tank was cleaned, and the filter was replaced. Other necessary maintenance tasks were also performed to ensure the ambulance could resume its service. The initiative also received support from residents of San Juan Nepomuceno living in Asunción, who contributed financially to purchase a new battery and other required parts.

Ibarra highlighted that the ambulance's return to service was made possible by the sum of numerous small and large contributions, alongside the workshop's labor. This effort addresses the community's need for a functional ambulance to transport patients to other medical facilities when required. While the hospital has other vehicles, this particular ambulance had been out of circulation for a considerable time.
