‘Something fell from the plane’ - Eyewitnesses narrate Enugu Air accident

An Enugu Air aircraft veered off the runway shortly after landing at Benin Airport, prompting concern among local residents. Eyewitnesses near the airport reported hearing a loud bang and observing what they described as something falling from the plane before it skidded.

I heard a loud noise. I thank God nobody died. I thought something fell from the sky. I came out to see an airplane on the ground.

Michael Udoh, who lives near the airport, recounted hearing a loud noise and seeing the airplane on the ground. "I thought something fell from the sky," he said. Another resident, Moses Idowu, stated, "We saw the plane coming down and then went up. It appears the engine failed and the plane came down again. The rain was falling. It was something that fell from the plane," he narrated.

Enugu Air, a state-owned carrier, issued a statement confirming the runway excursion incident. The airline assured the public that all passengers and crew had safely disembarked from the aircraft. "We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties," the statement read. Despite the eyewitness accounts of something falling from the plane, the airline maintained that the incident resulted in no harm to those on board.
