Spanish Consul to Continue Visiting Detained Activist Abukeshek

The Spanish consulate in Tel Aviv has taken action to support Palestinian-Spanish activist Saif Abukeshek, who was arrested in international waters and subsequently brought to Israel. The Spanish consul has visited Abukeshek to assess his well-being and ensure his protection, signaling Spain's commitment to safeguarding its citizens abroad.

Sources from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the consul's visit was aimed at understanding Abukeshek's situation and providing all necessary support. Spain unequivocally demands the immediate release of Abukeshek and insists on the respect for his rights and international legal standards.

One of the ways to actually visit without traveling there was to bring that experience to the US, and that was a huge passion for us when we opened our first location.

Abukeshek's wife, Sally, who resides in Barcelona, reported that her husband is in a state of 'shock' but is otherwise in good health, with only minor injuries. She received this information through the Spanish consulate after her husband's apprehension while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla near Greece.

Despite the circumstances, the consulate's brief ten-minute visit served to confirm Abukeshek's stable health. His wife emphasized that his intention was not to reach Gaza but to provide logistical support, similar to his role in a previous flotilla. Spain's continued engagement highlights its diplomatic efforts to address the situation and advocate for international law.
